Our members create and deliver food and nutrition based educational programs to schools, chefs, farmers and communities. We organize field trips for students to see farms and farmers markets.

Advocacy

Our members organize farmer-chef conferences and partner with other locally based food organizations to promote local, sustainable food sources within each community.

Philanthropy

Our members raise thousands of dollars to support local food, farming and gardening projects from farmers markets and school and rehabilitative gardens to educational programs and scholarships.

WEB FORUM ON CHILD NUTRITION ARCHIVE NOW AVAILABLE!

GreenTables/LDEI in collaboration with Dialogue4Health brought together close to 400 participants from around the country for the February 1 Web Forum Reauthorizing the Child Nutrition Act: What’ll It take To Fix School Lunch? We are pleased to announce that the audio archive, presentation slides, speaker bios and list of resources are now available. In addition, further dialogue, articles and event postings are accessible to all through the Dialogue4Health social network of public health advocates. Please join this group at Dialogue4Health.

Highlights of this well produced interactive program included: an overview of the history and components of the school lunch program that feeds more than 30 million children a day, steps to improve and advocate for school meals, and what individuals can do to educate their communities and bring attention to this critical policy. Chefs and culinary professionals were invited to join a new national effort spearheaded by Chef Bill Telepan, of the NYC Alliance for CNR. To learn more about Chef Telepan’s plans for March 17th ---and the plans of other groups and individuals --- click here

More than 80 LDEI members registered for this event, an exciting response from our organization indicating active interest in this subject. Watch for more on childhood nutrition and school lunch at www.greentables.org.

Note: LDEI is making this information available for the edification of our members on important issues and is not involved in the advocacy process.
